2. What data we collect and why

Newsletter signup

When you sign up for the newsletter, we collect your email address. Legal basis: your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email we send.

Sponsor inquiry form

When you submit a sponsor inquiry through the form on this site, we collect your name, email address, company, sponsorship interest, and the content of your message. These submissions are processed and stored on our behalf by our hosting provider Netlify (Netlify Forms). Legal basis: pre-contractual measures or our legitimate interest in responding to your inquiry (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b) and (f)). We use this data only to respond to your inquiry and will not use it for marketing without your consent.

Speaker applications

Speaker applications are collected via an external Google Form. Any data you enter there is processed by Google in accordance with Google's privacy policy; we receive and use it solely to assess your application.

Event registration

Ticket registration is handled by Luma (lu.ma). Data you provide during registration is processed according to Luma's privacy policy. Hackathon submissions are handled by DoraHacks, subject to DoraHacks' privacy policy.

Server logs

Our hosting provider Netlify automatically collects server log data (IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps) as a technical necessity. This data is retained for a short period for security purposes. See Netlify's privacy policy.

Fonts

This site uses the "Space Grotesk" and "Syne" web fonts, currently loaded from Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser requests the font files from Google servers, which transmits your IP address to Google. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in consistent presentation (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)). See Google's privacy policy.

Video (YouTube)

Our event-recap video is embedded from YouTube (Google). When the video loads or plays, YouTube may receive your IP address and set cookies. We recommend not playing the video if you do not consent. Legal basis: your consent or our legitimate interest in showcasing the event (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)/(f)). See Google's privacy policy.

Ticketing widget (Luma)

Our ticket buttons load a checkout script from Luma (lu.ma). When you open the checkout, Luma processes the data you enter to complete your registration, in accordance with Luma's privacy policy.

3. Cookies

The website itself uses only essential functional cookies necessary for basic operation and sets no tracking or advertising cookies. Note that embedded third-party content — in particular the YouTube video described above — may set its own cookies when it loads.

4. Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Data is only shared with service providers strictly necessary to operate the website (Netlify for hosting, Luma for event registration, Google for fonts and the embedded video) under data processing agreements.

Some of these providers are based in the USA, so your data may be transferred there. Such transfers are safeguarded by the providers' certification under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and/or by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

5. Data retention

Newsletter emails are retained until you unsubscribe. Inquiry form data is retained for as long as necessary to process your request, and for a reasonable period thereafter in case of follow-up. We do not retain data longer than legally required.

6. Your rights under GDPR

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
• Restrict or object to processing
• Data portability
• Withdraw consent at any time (without affecting prior lawful processing)
